History

In the Beginning . . .

Having a love for the people of Western North Carolina and wanting to reach out to them with a helping hand is what instituted the foundation of Medical Emergency Ambulance, Inc. While enjoying the thought of being behind the wheel on the racetrack, the Tolleys thought about incorporating their skills of speed and medical knowledge to bring about a winning team of success.

In 1989, Kermit Tolley, Sr, his wife, Sharon and their two children, Kermit, Jr and Tanya started a private ambulance service in Western North Carolina. While just started out with two trucks, Medic 39 and Medic 63 which were Ford trucks, the family saw a need of expanding their services to better serve other counties with professional and quality care. In the mid 1990's, Medical Emergency began to place more trucks on the road and as of August, 2011, they have a total of 7 ambulances on the road with other quick response vehicles to match the need.
